Four years ago my wife and I joined some friends for a week’s visit to Manzanillo. We were apprehensive at first because being a diver, I knew the Pacific Ocean was not as good to dive in compared to the Caribbean. After discussing the trip, we agreed we were up for change as the Rivera Maya and Cozumel was getting to be the same old vacation in our eyes.
“When we were flying in to ZLO, I knew
I was going to like this area of Mexico.
There was the blue Pacific Ocean and mountains covered in vegetation as compared to the flat jungle around the Cancun/ Riviera Maya area. Our first night’s stay was at the Barcelo and the next day we moved into our rental villa in La Punta.
The minute we entered through the La Punta gates, we immediately fell in love with it with all the floral and plants in the landscaping. The question we asked ourselves was what was Manzanillo and Santiago going to be like? We visited Santiago a couple of times and Manzanillo as well. The locals where friendly where ever we went. We felt safe and were not afraid to walk around by ourselves. Thankfully my wife speaks some Spanish because most of the locals do not speak English. We have visited many restaurants and have never had a bad meal. The beaches are clean and you can’t beat the smell of the ocean air.
We visited Manzanillo the following two years and the city and the people grew in our hearts. So much so, that we decided to buy a home there this year. It took us a while to find the house we liked, but with the help of Marco Gonzalez from Coldwell Banker Colimar, we finally found our new home! We can’t wait to start spending time in our new home with our friends and new neighbors.
